My name is Kristi Bothur. I am 45 years old, and the wife of a bivocational pastor. 2) Where do you attend church? Tell us a little bit about it. Do others practice headcovering there?
I attend two churches, both Southern Baptist. My husband is the pastor of South Beltline Baptist Church, a small, older inner city church. Until recently, our children were the only ones there, and so we are also active members of Spring Valley Baptist, a larger church that we have attended since we got married. Dans 1 Corinthiens 11, Paul enseigne aux femmes la nécessité de se voiler pour “prier ou prophétiser”. Le terme grec pour “femme” est “gynē”, et il peut être traduit par “femme” ou “épouse” selon le contexte. Si la plupart des versions de la Bible 1) Cela inclue notamment les traductions Second, Darby, Semeur, Parole de Vie, la TOB, tout comme la bible liturgique épiscopale.
traduisent gynē comme “femme” dans les versets 2 à 16, la version populaire en anglais courant (English Standard Version Bible) 2) La version anglaise RSV défend aussi ce point de vue en traduisant 1 Cor 11:3 comme “la tête de la femme est son mari”.
diffère en traduisant par moment “épouse” dans ce passage (la bible en français courant, elle, traduit homme par “mari”). Cela a conduit beaucoup de femmes à se questionner et à se demander si l’ordonnance du voile ne s’adressait pas qu’aux femmes mariées. Il faut savoir que derrière ce choix de traduction qui a induit en confusion, il y a l’hypothèse que le port du voile n’était qu’un symbole romain du 1er siècle pour désigner une matrone (une femme mariée respectable). Notre objectif dans cet article est de prouver que l’enseignement de Paul sur le voile, concerne tous les hommes et toutes les femmes, indépendamment de leur statut marital.

反論:被り物は「重箱の隅をつつくような(“majoring in the minors”)」教えです。それは聖書に一回しか言及されていない曖昧な箇所を持ち出して、そこからある慣習をこしらえるような、そのような無理のある教えです。こういう事を議論するより、私たちはむしろ、飢えている人々に食料を提供するとか、福音を伝えるとか、そういうもっと大切な事に関心を注ぐべきだと思います。
