The Head Covering Movement’s New Direction: A Call for Team Members
The Head Covering Movement (est. 2013) is transitioning into its final form. This includes a brand-new website design, refreshed videos, a new subreddit, and a renewed focus on community groups and social media. Here’s what’s changing and why we need your help.
Why We’re Leaving the Blog Era Behind
When we launched, our website functioned as a blog. We regularly posted articles, quote images, links to other people’s content, and sermons. Back then, blogs were one of the main ways people discovered new content and ideas, and many followed our site to learn more.
But times have changed. Today, most people find content through social media, not by visiting individual blogs. So we’re adapting. Our website will become a resource hub, a library of timeless content, while new conversations and updates will happen on social media and in our community groups.
Why Start Another Community?
Our Facebook community group is thriving with over 8,500 members. It gives people a place to have community with others who share this view on head covering and biblical gender roles. There they can ask questions, encourage one another, and build friendships rooted in shared convictions. Like social media, it’s also a key place where people first encounter our message.
But not everyone is on Facebook or wants to be. That’s why we’re launching a subreddit. Reddit allows people to create or join communities around specific topics. You can sign up using a Google or Apple account, or create a username without connecting to your real-world identity like Facebook does. While an account is required to post or comment, anyone can view the subreddit without signing in. This also means the posts are public and indexed by Google and AI tools, making it easier for people searching about head covering to find our discussions.
As of today, our HCM subreddit is live. If you want a private, supportive space, our Facebook group is for you. If you prefer a public, open forum or simply do not use Facebook, join us on Reddit. 👉 Apply to be one of our initial moderators here.
We expect our subreddit to lean more male and to have livelier debates, since posting is open and we don’t approve who can comment. By contrast, our Facebook group has more females, and everyone who joins already agrees with head covering or wants to learn more.
It’s Time to Modernize Our Website and Videos
Our website looked great 15 years ago, but today it feels outdated. This summer, we’re launching a clean, modern redesign that’s easier to navigate. We’re also trimming down the clutter to highlight the essentials, making key resources easier to find.
The same goes for our videos. I (Jeremy) filmed most of them over 10 years ago. They’re in low resolution, poorly edited, and my spiky hair from my 20s was not exactly helping our brand. Our old videos are not being widely shared anymore, and I understand why.
But I’ve grown in my skills. I produce higher quality video content on my channel, TheologyJeremy, and this summer I’ll be redoing our video library. Expect clear, helpful, shareable videos that speak directly to today’s generation. Starting later this summer, I’ll begin releasing one new video every week for quite a while.
If you’re a content creator and want to post or cross-post your head covering videos on our channel, email me.
We Need a Team to Carry This Forward
With this new focus, we’re recruiting new team members to help lead our social media channels and community groups. If you love God’s Word, want to help normalize head covering, and desire to build up this growing community, we need you. 👉 More info
