Major Announcement regarding HCM and its founder

Hey everyone, it’s Jeremy the founder of the Head Covering Movement. I have some major life changing news that I’d like to share with you all today.

Since the night of June 2nd I have been having some serious health complications that included strong abdomen pain, back pain, and breathing problems. After numerous tests with specialists they have found the issues.

My breathing issues are because I have many large blood clots in my lungs which if they weren’t dealt with soon would have been fatal. It’s putting a lot of stress on my heart so that’s where doctors are focusing their time and effort on now trying to stabilize my heart and breathing before they move on to the next issue.

The lower body pain I’ve been experiencing is confirmed to be cancer. Though the cancer started in my lower body it has been moving upwards and I have a grapefruit sized tumor in my stomach which is wrecking havoc on my body as it’s wrapped around blood vessels and pushing organs around. It is also what’s been causing the blood clotting in my lungs. Both surgery and chemotherapy will be employed to deal with the cancer in various places.

So much has happened so soon. Just as early as a week ago–standing, walking, and turning were all movements I did without thinking but now are very difficult and can sometimes only be done with assistance or pain medication. I’m not able to help my wife with even the simplest of things and can expect to be mostly bed-ridden for the foreseeable future.

Even though I received a lot of bad news quickly, I am in good spirits. I am not scared or worried. My theology is keeping me grounded through this all. Particularly the Bible’s teaching on God’s sovereignty (Daniel 4:35) and the fact that he promises to work all things (including cancer) together for my good (Romans 8:28). Knowing I have an all-powerful God who is in complete control of this situation and is weaving this chain of events for my ultimate good is comforting. And knowing that even if I don’t recover from this and die early, I know that because my faith is placed in Jesus, I will spend eternity together with Him. The doctor when he broke the news to me said “I wish everyone could respond as well as you’re responding”, I told Him that the reason I can respond well is because “I’m in a right relationship with God.” It really is the only reason.

Your prayers for myself and my family would be greatly appreciated during the season. If anyone would like to help us out in a tangible way as we walk through this process, you can donate through Paypal or if you use a Canadian bank, through email money transfer (same e-mail for both: mrjgardiner@gmail.com ). For those who prefer less tech ways of giving, my mailing address is: Jeremy Gardiner    1123 49A Street NW     Edmonton, Alberta, Canada    T6L 4C5

100% of the money will be used to help cover the extra costs of things like hospital parking and medication as well as practical things which will lessen the load of my wife like take-out meals for my kids on days when she is too exhausted too cook.

What does this mean for the Head Covering Movement? It means at least for the foreseeable future I will be unavailable to create or curate new content for the site. I don’t think it would be helpful to speculate long term right now. I likely will be able to provide an update toward the end of the year on my health and what will happen with HCM moving forward. Our site will remain online as a resource hub and my prayer is that it will continue to remain a blessing to those who find our site after researching this topic.

Gotta be optimistic about these things, sure, it might take a little longer to beat than the common cold, but with the array of research into medicine and combining faith into your healing gives you really great odds of beating it – add to that a massive support group that has your back, your church, your extended friends in this movement, and well, God himself. Use all these resources and more and you’ll be good to go.

    Dear Lord and Heavenly Father,
We come before You now on behalf of our brother, Jeremy, and his family. If it’s Your will, we ask that you heal Jeremy. As the Great Physician, please give the doctors skill and wisdom as they deal with this cancer. Thankyou, Lord Jesus, for giving Jeremy your peace that passeth all understanding and for his strong faith in You. Continue to keep Jeremy, Amanda and their family in the palm of your hand. I We ask all these things in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ. It’s in His name we pray, Amen.

Though we were already convicted to wear headcoverings, your book strengthened our conviction and helped us convey our scriptural reasoning to others. You and your family will be in all of our prayers. May the Lord bless you and make His face shine upon you. ~Anna Wood (Montgomery AL)
