1) Introduce yourself to our readers.

I’m a second year American medical student studying abroad in Israel. Apparently choosing to study in Israel and not being Jewish is considered an unusual decision by both people back home and here in the land. But my school focuses on global health and gives us opportunities to work with Bedouins, African refugees, and Jewish immigrants from all over the world in addition to a global clerkship: which is perfect for me since I want to do medical missions in the future. Why should I wait another 5 or 10 years to learn how to thrive in a foreign culture where I don’t know the language and don’t have any contacts when I can learn now? If you’re still confused and shocked by my choice, just remember that I’m living in the same city in which Abraham lived. And every time the Bible talks about the south, or the wilderness, or the Negev, I can just look out my window, and I know exactly what it looks and feels like. Read more

Covering Testimony: Irina Glazkova

1) Introduce yourself to our readers.

Hi, my name is Irina Glazkova and I’m a single, Christian woman who is originally from Russia. I’ve been in Canada since September 2007. Before that, I lived in the USA for 11 months as an exchange student. I accepted Lord Jesus as savior at the age of 12 after searching through many different philosophies. During my childhood and early teens I had been bullied a lot mostly because I was born with deformed limbs and I have had seven surgeries. When I was born, doctors tried to convince my mom to leave me at the hospital because I was very sick and had physical deformities. Sadly, this is a common practice in Russia and in most post-Soviet countries. My mom refused. She sacrificed so much for my well-being. My biggest dream is to see my family come to Salvation. Bullying led me to search for the truth. I just couldn’t come to terms that there was no justice. I used to go with my mom to a Russian Orthodox church. However, I was conflicted by praying to saints, kneeling in front of icons and many other things. While in the United States I lived in Baptist pastor’s family. This is where my faith began to grow. I was seventeen years old at this point. While living in the United States I considered studying in Canada. A lady from my current church (Faith Bible Chapel) came to the USA for her son’s graduation. In addition, Memorial University of Newfoundland gave me an entrance scholarship. The Lord lead me here to Newfoundland. I enjoy hikes, outdoors, crafts, reading, writing, singing and watching clouds. Read more

1) Introduce yourself to our readers.

Hi there everybody! My name is Samantha. I am a 23 year old wife and mother. I’ve been married for a couple of years now and my husband and I have one precious toddler we adore. My husband is in the military, so we live an adventurous life of frequent moves and never knowing what God has in store for each new season of life. The military life certainly keeps us on our toes 😉 I have been a Christian since I was very young, and I have loved growing in my relationship with the Lord for several years now. My husband leads a Bible study, and I love learning more about scripture and watching others grow in their love and knowledge of the Lord as well. In my free time I enjoy reading, crochet, and making crafts.

2) Where do you attend church? Tell us a little bit about it.

My family attends a small non-denominational church. We have contemporary music with worship songs you might expect to hear on Christian radio. Our pastor is fantastic- he really teaches in his sermons, and every Sunday I leave church feeling like I really learned alot. Read more

1) Introduce yourself to our readers.

Hi! My name is Kim Fox. I am a wife to my high-school sweetheart and mother to six living children and counting- aged 8 and under! (five daughters and one son, and two children in heaven) God redeemed me and called me to salvation when I was 19. My husband and I were baptized together a couple years later. I am a busy keeper of my home, and school my children at home. I am also a sporadic blogger at www.foxliving.com. The Lord continues to grow our faith and led us to a reformed church about 7 years ago.

2) Where do you attend church? Tell us a little bit about it.

I attend Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church. It is a congregation of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America (RPCNA). Our spiritual heritage particularly comes from the reformation in Scotland and the Scottish Covenanters. Our full doctrinal statement is found in the Westminster Confession of Faith, The Larger and Shorter Catechisms, and the Reformed Presbyterian Testimony. We have recently moved and our church membership still resides in a congregation of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Oviedo, Florida. Read more

1) Introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Raiza Anastacio and I’m from the Philippines. I’m still single and have been working as an “au pair” (babysitter) in Europe for four years now. I come from a very small, peaceful, stress free family where there’s no screaming or fighting. My family are devoted Roman Catholics. I came to know our Lord Jesus Christ last year here in Norway.

2) Where do you attend church? Tell us a little bit about it.

I go to Trondheim International Church and it’s really a blessing from God. I am so grateful that God has brought me there. There’s unity and happiness in all the members of T.I.C.. I have met people from different countries (Ukraine, Malaysia and Vietnam) and have became friends with them. They really helped me to know their culture and to know more about God. Our pastor (Robin Bassam) is very patient and committed to protecting and helping his “flock” as he calls us, to grow more in faith. Read more

Pastor Robin Bassam

1) Please introduce yourself and the church you pastor.

My name is Robin Bassam and I was born in London, England. I was saved in 1970 at the age of 25 in an Evangelical Free Church. In 1974 I received a call from the Lord to serve Him in Norway. I came to Norway in 1983 and served the Lord in Northern Norway for many years. Seven years ago we started Trondheim International Church, which is an English speaking non-denominational church. We started with about 12 friends and we have grown to between 35 and 40 Christian believers. Our church has members from England, Norway, Canada, Romania, the Ukraine, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Ghana and the Philippines.

2) Tell us how you came to believe that head covering is a timeless symbol for today.

I was saved in an Evangelical Free Church which was a Reformed Calvinist Church. The Pastor believed in Head Covering and about half the ladies wore a Head Covering (mainly hats). The first four or five churches I pastored had a number of ladies who covered their heads. Since then none of the churches I have pastored practiced Head Coverings. At Elim Bible College (a Pentecostal Bible College in England) I was involved in a debate on Head Covering from 1 Corinthians 11 where I found myself defending Head Covering. It was not a subject that gripped me but I found myself defending not Head Covering itself, but the right for a lady to choose to cover her head if she desires. Afterwards a number of ladies (not men) thanked me for defending their right to cover their heads if they chose to. I gradually came to see that 1 Corinthians 11 is very clear in its teaching. Any new convert reading it would take it as a timeless command of God for ladies to cover their heads in all public worship meetings. Read more

1) Introduce yourself to our readers.

I am the wife of one wonderful man, mother to three gorgeous children. I did not grow up in the church, but approximately 7 months before I married, the Lord saved me! Fast forward to now– I’ve been married for 22 years, I have a BS in Nursing and a MS in Education, but walked away from the outside workforce to raise our children. I’m now a full-time home keeping/homeschool educating momma.

I lead two dance ministries at our church. This to me has the similar challenges as head coverings. In dance, you have to work hard to minister through movement of your body, without letting your body become the focus of what people see. With head covering, you do not want the focus to be on the covering- style/fashion.

I enjoy sewing, gardening and expanding my cooking skills. I am a reformed, big mouthed black female working hard to serve the Lord. 🙂 Read more
